Deja Soufka has played lead and supporting characters in over 15 short films and 4 full features. His 2015 work includes characters as diverse as the hero brother trying to save his sister from a Syrian Jail in “Rajam”, the young romantic idealist Lover rebelling against religious prejudice in “A Good Man”, the leader of a nation negotiating a peace treaty in “Armenia, My Country, My Mother, My Love”, the villain in “Embedded” and “The Fog”, and the party master in “Mac Daddy in Las Vegas”. He received a scholarship from The Film School for his acting and writing in 2013 where he studied with Emmy Award winners Tom Skeritt and the late writer Stewart Stern. The same year, he left his job as a Technology/Business Consultant to settle in LA where he completed his training at the Jocelyn Jones Acting Studio and the Upright Citizens Brigade in Hollywood. A stage trained actor in Realism, Shakespeare and Commedia Dell’ Arte, he has brought to life over 40 characters from classical plays by Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill to contemporary playwrights such as Stephen Adly Guirgis. The diversity of his work and his versatility are reflected by his upbringing across 3 different continents (Europe, Asia and North America) where he acquired 4 languages (English, French, Arabic and Spanish), all of which he has used for different roles. When not acting, Deja loves to dance, sing, snowboard, and play percussion, all of which are disciplines he has been performing or teaching.
